Teaching

Monique comes from a long line of teachers. Everyone in her immediate family, from her parents, to her siblings, to her grandparents has at least grazed through the world of Education, if not made an entire career of it. The point here being that there was never a world in which Monique (whose very name means "Advisor") wasn't going to do some teaching at some point here and there.

Currently she teaches short film development at UCLA extension and directing at Mount St. Mary's University. She has also been a film school instructor at New York Film Academy and The International School of Film & Television, where she taught pitching, networking, the business of show business, producing, screenwriting, and new media. She is also a member of the Writer's Education Committee at the WGA, where she puts together panels to educate the membership on the ever changing state of the business.

Before teaching film school, Monique had already amassed vast experience teaching drama at Marin Academy in their summer program, and creative movement, which she taught at Ecole Bilingue in Berkeley and Corinne A. Seeds elementary in Los Angeles.

Outside of the creative arts, she has taught ESL (English as a second language), English conversation, and TOEFL (The Test of English as a Foreign Language) to adults from around the world, who were interested in attending an American University or advancing their business prospects by speaking English.
